人工智能(Artificial Intelligence)学域关注人工智能驱动下的广泛的科技领域的基础性研究和应用型研究,将运用人工智能技术改变各个行业领域的应用。香港科技大学(广州)信息枢纽人工智能博士课程团队致力于成为世界知名的人工智能研究中心。

人才培养
培养目标
人工智能博士项目旨在培养学生从事人工智能方面的原创性研究,并帮助建立重要的跨学科、独立、创新的学习思维,使学生能在人工智能相关行业或者学术领域取得成功。博士学位的毕业生应精通其选定的学科知识,能够综合、创造新的知识,为相关学科的发展做出独创性和实质性的科学贡献。

完成博士学位课程后,毕业生将:

人工智能学域目前拥有正/副高级教授共11人,团队成员全部拥有博士学位,具有博导资格,海外引进人才占90%以上。
Associate VP (KT), Thrust Head
Chair Professor Hui XIONG
Prof. XIONG Hui is currently the Head and Chair Professor of the Artificial Intelligence Thrust at the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (Guangzhou). Prof. Xiong’s main research areas are data mining, business intelligence, mobile computing, and big data of human resources. He has obtained AAAS Fellow, IEEE Fellow, ACM Distinguished Scientist, Changjiang Chair Professor of the Ministry of Education of China, Harvard Business Review’s “The 2018 Ram Charan Management Practice Awards”-- Full Prize, 2017 IEEE ICDM Outstanding Service Award, ICDM-2011 Best Research Paper Award, and AAAI-2021 Best Paper Award. In terms of talent cultivation, most of the PhD supervised by Prof. Xiong have become tenure-track professors at prestigious universities in United States, including University of Tennessee-Knoxville, University of Arizona, Stony Brook University, University of Central Florida, George Mason University, City University of Hong Kong, University of Kansas and ESCP Business School-Paris.

Associate Thrust Head
Associate Professor Xinyi HUANG
Xinyi Huang received his Ph.D. degree from the School of Computer Science and Software Engineering, University of Wollongong, Australia, in 2009. He is currently an Associate Professor at the Thrust of Artificial Intelligence, Information Hub, Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (Guangzhou), China. His research interests include cryptography and information security. He has published over 160 research papers in refereed international conferences and journals, such as ACM CCS, Crypto, Asiacrypt, IEEE Transactions on Computers, IEEE Transactions on Parallel and Distributed Systems, and IEEE Transactions on Information Security and Forensics. His work has been cited more than 10000 times at Google Scholar. He is in the Editorial Board of International Journal of Information Security and SCIENCE CHINA Information Sciences. He has served as the program/general chair or program committee member in over 120 international conferences.

Associate Professor Sihong XIE
Sihong Xie is currently an Associate Professor at the Thrust of Artificial Intelligence at Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (Guangzhou). Previously, Dr. Xie held the position of Assistant Professor from 2016 to 2023 and tenured Associate Professor from 2023 at the Computer Science and Engineering Department of Lehigh University in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania, US. From 2019 to 2022, he received over 1.5 million USD in grants from the NSF. Dr. Xie received his Ph.D. in 2016 from the Department of Computer Science at the University of Illinois at Chicago. His research focuses on accountable machine learning, where human-ML collaborations are critical. Dr. Xie has published over 60 papers in major data mining and machine learning conferences, such as ICLR, KDD, UAI, ICDM, WWW, AAAI, IJCAI, WSDM, SDM, and TKDE, with over 2,300 citations and an h-index of 19. He has also served as an NSF panelist and PC or senior PC member for conferences such as NeurIPS, ICML, KDD, AAAI, ICLR, ICDM, and SIGIR, a reviewer for TPAMI, a topic editor of Frontiers in Big Data, and a KDD workshop organizer. In 2022, Dr. Xie was honored with the NSF CAREER Award.

Associate Professor Xin WANG
Xin Wang is an Associate Professor at the Thrust of Artificial Intelligence, Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (Guangzhou). He is a recipient of the National Young Talents Project. Previously, he was a Staff Researcher and Tech Lead at the Institute for Quantum Computing at Baidu Research, where he focused on the R&D of Baidu Quantum Platform. He led the development of Paddle Quantum, a Python library for quantum machine learning. From 2018 to 2019, he was a Hartree Fellow at the Joint Center for Quantum Information and Computer Science at the University of Maryland, College Park. He received his doctorate from the University of Technology Sydney and was awarded the Chancellor’s List for Outstanding Thesis and the Outstanding Self-financed Overseas Student Award. His research interests include quantum communication, quantum entanglement, quantum error mitigation, and quantum machine learning. He has published over 50 papers in top-tier journals and conferences in the fields of physics, computer science, and AI, such as Physical Review Letters, IEEE Transactions on Information Theory, Communications in Mathematical Physics, npj Quantum Information, Quantum, NeurIPS, and AAAI. He has given more than 20 oral presentations at prestigious quantum computing conferences such as QIP and TQC, and was invited to deliver a keynote at the top-tier quantum computing conference TQC 2020 (the first from China). He has served as an editor of Quantum and the program committee member for international conferences such as AQIS, QTML, BIID. He has applied for nearly 100 patents in quantum computing (50 granted) and was selected as Top Young Chinese Scholars in Artificial Intelligence (AI+X).
